OUR APPROACH TO ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)

Speech with Impact recognises that artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly used in the delivery of health services, and we are committed to using AI safely, ethically and transparently, consistent with the Speech Pathology Australia Position Statement on Artificial Intelligence in Speech Pathology (2024) and Ahpra's guidance on meeting professional obligations when using AI in healthcare.

How we may use AI

AI tools may be used at Speech with Impact to support administrative tasks such as drafting correspondence, preparing resources, or managing practice operations. AI may also be used to support — but never replace — clinical work, such as assisting with the preparation of draft reports or therapy resources.

AI does not make clinical decisions at Speech with Impact. Every assessment, diagnosis, treatment plan and piece of clinical advice is made by a qualified speech pathologist, who reviews, verifies and takes full professional responsibility for any information or content that has been generated or assisted by AI before it is used or shared with a client.

Your privacy

We will never enter identifiable personal or health information into an AI tool unless that tool has appropriate privacy and security safeguards in place, consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Where AI tools are used in a way that involves your personal information, we will seek your informed consent beforehand, explain how and why AI is being used, and record that consent in your file.

Your choices

You have the right to ask whether AI has been used in any part of your care, and to decline the use of AI in your assessment or treatment at any time, without it affecting your access to our other services. If you would prefer we do not use AI-assisted tools in relation to your care, please let us know and we will accommodate this.

Questions or concerns

If you have any questions about our use of AI, or wish to raise a concern, please contact us on 0411 776 726 or admin@speechwithimpact.com.
